India, who are aiming to win their 2nd title after 2007 in the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, registered an improbable victory by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by 4 wickets in their first match thanks to Virat Kohli’s historic performance. India then won the toss and batted first in their 2nd match against the Netherlands at the world famous Sydney Cricket Ground on 27 October and scored 179/2 in the stipulated 20 overs.

Chasing 180 runs, the Dutch team failed to show action against the world-class Indian bowlers and lost wickets from the start. Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Akshar Patel and Arshideep Singh took 2 wickets each on behalf of India who bowled so amazingly. So, India won by 56 runs and recorded their 2nd win in 2 matches in this World Cup and topped the Group 2 points table with 4 points. Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 51* runs, won the man of the match award.

On the other hand, captain Rohit Sharma, who has shown modest performances in recent times including the recently concluded Pakistan match, acted responsibly in this match and scored 53 (39) runs with 4 fours and 3 sixes and responded to the critics. In particular, he smashed 3 sixes in the T20 World Cup history, breaking Yuvraj Singh’s record for the most sixes in the history of the T20 World Cup and taking second place behind Chris Gayle in the all-time list.
