The cheating happened with Tilakavathy, 38, a married woman from the same town. They rented a house in Vellore Mullipalayam area and stayed there often.
On September 23, after an argument broke out between them, Ramesh, enraged, poured petrol on Tilakavati and set her on fire. With the fire, Thilakavathy hugged Ramesh and the fire spread to him.
While both the critically injured were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Velar, Tilakavathy died the next day. Ramesh, who was receiving continuous treatment, died last night.
When the Vellore North police tried to hand over his body to his relatives, they refused. Subsequently, the police buried the body at Velwar Balarangarai.
