‘Second Home Visa’: You can stay in Bali for up to ten years!

Indonesia with ‘second home visa’ program to attract rich people from different parts of the world to the country. The visa allows foreigners to stay and work in the country for five to 10 years. For this, those who have at least 2 billion rupees (1,07,02165 rupees) in their bank account can apply. The new law will come into effect in the days leading up to Christmas. The government has informed that it will be implemented within 60 days.

Immigration Acting Director General Widodo Ekatjahjana said that the main objective of this project is to attract foreign tourists to Bali and various other places. He added that the scheme is a non-financial incentive that the country provides to foreigners to contribute better to the Indonesian economy.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia have risen sharply as airlines such as Garuda Indonesia resume international flights. Moreover, in connection with the upcoming G-20 summit in Bali this November, tens of thousands of delegates are expected to arrive.

With this visa, foreigners can stay in the country for five or ten years and carry out various activities such as investment and other activities.

Interested persons should submit their visa applications through the online website visa-online.immigration.go.id. The documents required for this are as follows:

∙Passport valid for thirty six months from the time of application

∙ Evidence of two billion rupees in own account or account owned by the guarantor

∙ Recent color photograph of size 4 cm x 6 cm on white background

∙ Detailed resume

With this, Indonesia joins the list of countries from Costa Rica to Mexico offering long-term stays to attract professionals, retirees and other wealthy individuals. The country recently introduced a five-year digital nomad visa. Holders of this visa can live tax-free in Bali. This provides opportunities for the growth of Bali’s tourism sector by giving tourists the opportunity to explore local places.
