Popular social networking site Twitter has been bought by Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, for $44 billion (Rs. 3.65 lakh crore). After a long tussle, Twitter is finally in the hands of Elon Musk. Elon Musk took action on his first day as a Twitter owner. Barak Aggarwal, who was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has been sacked by senior officials.

Twitter is a popular social networking site used worldwide. It is used by many people from different heads of state, celebrities, business people to local people. They are posting their opinions on the society and their own opinions. Leaders and celebrities share more information about themselves on Twitter. It gets more attention by tagging the comments to relevant people and relevant departments. In recent times, crimes and complaints have been openly posted on Twitter. Government and all department related issues are posted. The concerned departments have also taken steps for this.

In this case, last April, Elon Musk announced the purchase of Twitter. He announced his intention to buy Twitter in response to international restrictions on freedom of expression. He said he would pay a total price of $44 billion at a price of $54.20 per share. Twitter employees strongly protested Elon Musk’s announcement.

In this context, Elon Musk said that Twitter company officials refused to provide details related to fake accounts and backed out of the deal. Subsequently, a case was filed on behalf of Twitter in the US court.

Elon Musk then held talks with Twitter officials again. Subsequently, Elon Musk finalized the deal to buy Twitter at a price of 44 billion dollars and became the owner of Twitter.

Elon Musk tweets

Elon Musk posted a tweet referencing Twitter’s iconic flying bird to announce the acquisition of Twitter’s license. In it, he posted, “The bird has got its freedom.” He has also changed his name on his Twitter page.

Also, “Currently, Twitter is full of right-wing and left-wing comments. It causes division among people. Because of this, the platform for healthy dialogue is lost. I realized that a platform is necessary for future generations to have a healthy dialogue without violence. That’s why I bought Twitter. I didn’t buy Twitter to make money. He has said that he has bought it considering the welfare of the human society.

Removal of CEO

In this situation, Elon Musk has fired senior executives, including Barak Agarwal, who was the chief executive officer (CEO) on the first day of owning Twitter. Chief Financial Officer Ned Sehgal, Head of Legal Vijaya Katte and General Counsel Sean Edgal have also been removed. The layoffs are said to be aimed at streamlining Twitter’s governance.

Elon Musk – Barak Aggarwal Clash

Indian-origin Barak Agarwal was appointed CEO of Twitter in November last year. Subsequently, Barak has opposed Twitter since the announcement that Elon Musk was going to buy it.

Conflict between Elon Musk and Barak Agarwal escalated. Apparently both of them were making accusations on social media. In this case, Elon Musk fired Barak Agarwal.

42 million dollars in damages

According to Reuters, Barak Agarwal is expected to be paid $42 million (Rs 350 crore) in compensation. But this has not been officially announced yet. Aggarwal will reportedly be compensated with base salary and other perks.

With Twitter almost certain to be bought by Elon Musk, Agarwal told employees on Monday that the future of the social media company is now uncertain. Musk has reportedly said he plans to take the company private.
