Dreaming of January: Barcelona’s plan to bring back Messi

by time news

The president of Barcelona, Juan Laporte, has repeatedly stated his desire to bring Leo Messi back to the Camp Nou, and recently even defined it as a “moral duty” to the player. The summer of 2023 has often been discussed, when the star will finish his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, but it has now been published in “Sport” that Barca is looking into the possibility of bringing back the greatest player in its history as early as January.

The reason, like the one that led to Messi’s separation and in fact decides almost every issue in Barcelona in recent years, is first of all economic. In January, the club will be able to sign players according to the “1 to 1” rule. That is, Barça will be able to spend a euro for every euro it brings in. From the summer, however, she will have to work according to the “1 to 4” law. That is, spending one euro for every event she brings in, which may complicate the deal a bit.

But this is not expected to be a simple task at all, and most likely unrealistic, for a few reasons. PSG does not intend to part with Messi in January, and since he has a contract until the summer, Barcelona will have to negotiate with Nasser El Khalaifi, and as I remember, the relationship between the parties is not the best to say the least.

Even Messi himself is currently focused on his season in the French capital and the upcoming World Cup, and in any case is not expected to make a decision about his future before the end of the tournament in Qatar. For these reasons, Barcelona has not yet made contact with Messi himself, and is certainly aware that time is playing against her, so that only an unexpected scenario will prevent the captain of the Argentine national team from finishing the season at PSG.

Other players that Barcelona wants to add are Angolo Kante, who will finish his contract at Chelsea in the summer and has been marked as a replacement for Sergio Busquets, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, for the first time in his career. In addition, in “Mundo Deportivo” it was announced that the club signed a Brazilian diamond – 17-year-old Vitor Rocca from Atlético Fernandes.
