Yambu: Aratco Malabar FC Yambu won the 1st Unique Arab Cup One Day Sevens Football Tournament organized by Unique FC Yambu for HMR Contracting Company Winners Trophy and Taufeeq Supermarket Yambu Runners Trophy. Aratco Malabar FC won the match by defeating Unique FC Yambu by 1 goal. The Yambu Red and Flood Light Stadium witnessed exciting matches between eight teams from Yambu and surrounding areas.
Former MSP Malappuram and Calicut University star Mufid Sahal of Unique FC won the best player of the tournament award. Fazil (Aratco Malabar F.C.) who scored seven goals including the first goal in the final match was awarded the special prize for the top scorer. Muneer was adjudged as the best goalkeeper and Shafiq (both Aratco Malabar FC) as the best centre-back.
Unique FC Yambu President Asker Vandoor inaugurated the match. He said that a certain amount of the revenue generated from the competition will be transferred to the charity fund of Yambu Malayali Association. Various political, cultural, media and business personalities of Yambu attended. Convener of the tournament committee Shanawaz Muskan Vandoor welcomed and patron Ibrahim Kutti Pulath Chunkattara gave a vote of thanks. Unique FC Patrons Aliyar Cherukat and Murshid Velleri together with the runners trophy and Taufiq Supermarket representative Babumon Clari Etarikot handed over the trophy to the winners.
Abraham Alappuzha and Sabir Kottakal led the medical team for the tournament. Riaz Mon Shantinagar, P.C. Shaijal, Nisar Nilambur, Suhail Vantur, Shahjahan Vantur, Mujeeb Nilambur, Ashraf Kondotty, Shaukat Mannarkad, Zainul Abid Mancheri, Asif Cherukad, Shabir Kalikav, Muhammadali Cherukulam, Shihab Mancheri, Safeel Kaddanmanna, Asif Chaliam, Shihab Vaniyamambalam, Jamsheed Vandur Jampat , Manoj Perinthalmanna, Farooq Vaniyambalam, Subhash Thrissur, Sheas Malappuram, Harris Vandoor and Vipin Thrissur led the competition.
