The Canadian actor shared that what helped him progress many times was the fact that he learned to deal with different people while leading his life with kindness: “We live in a world that becomes more “played” with time and I think we all have the instinct to win, crush or kill. But, If you can let go of that instinct and replace it with a desire to learn something about another person then that, as a leadership tool, has helped me change every aspect of my life.”

He expanded on this and said that instead of winning someone in an argument, he actually tries to understand the other side and feel empathy and identification with him, through listening and including the other’s feelings. This is how he says “I have an ally, even if it doesn’t happen at that moment”. The reason for the success of this technique comes in his opinion from the fact that problems cannot be addressed if one fails to understand them beforehand.
