New Opel Grandland GSe: versatility and style

by time news

Following closely in the footsteps of the Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSe, now comes the next dynamic model from Opel’s new electrified sub-brand: the Opel Grandland GSe.

High-performance SUVs combine the pace of sports with versatility and style. They offer dynamism and all-wheel drive, thus exerting strong driver appeal. They are currently most often found in the premium segment, but with the new Opel Grandland GSe a high-performance SUV will soon also make its debut in the popular C-segment.

The new Grandland GSe combines a 1.6 turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors – one on each axle – with which it develops great power together, up to 300 hp. Plug-in hybrid mechanics convert the Grandland GSe into a permanent electric all-wheel drive vehicle with optimal traction and class-leading immediate response from a standstill. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h covers it in 6.1 seconds, like a sports car, and reaches a top speed of 235 km/h (135 km/h in electric mode).

As with its Astra GSe siblings, the prerequisites for the Opel Grandland GSe’s particularly dynamic character and great driving fun lie in its unique suspension and steering tuning. With a McPherson-type scheme at the front and a multi-link axle at the rear, Opel’s sportiest SUV has firmer shock absorbers and springs with KONI FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) technology, which allow different damping characteristics focused on dynamism. and comfort.

As a result, the Grandland GSe responds immediately and predictably to every input from the driver, while maintaining the characteristic stability of Opel models under braking and cornering.

The bold and pure exterior design of the Grandland with the characteristic front of the brand, the Opel Vizor, is reinforced with the styling cues typical of the GSe: with 19-inch light-alloy wheels inspired by the award-winning Manta GSe prototype; a unique rear diffuser and the GSe logo on the tailgate. As an additional distinctive feature, the Grandland GSe is optionally available with a black bonnet.

Inside, the AGR-certified high-performance front seats are further evidence of Opel’s excellence in seat engineering.
