Kamal Haasan is delighted to have played the titular character in one of the biggest hits of Tamil cinema ever. The film is Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film gave him a grand comeback after a long hiatus where he could not claim any major success. Now Kamal Haasan’s words about the responsibility towards the star fans are being discussed among the movie lovers.

Kamal’s words at the audio launch of Sembi, the new film directed by Prabhu Solomon. I used to carry an album with photos of my character in the film 16 Vayathinile when I was looking for opportunities. I will show the album to anyone who asks for the opportunity and say that I am the hero of this film. Some would say it was good while others would ask if he was not ashamed to carry a picture of himself in bad clothes. I heard someone here saying that I will attend functions like audio launch, whether it is a small film or a big film. But whether a film is big or small is not decided at these venues, it is decided by them, Kamal said, pointing to the audience.

I still remember the film 16 years later, more than 40 years later. So it becomes a big picture. Some big budget films even the name is forgotten after a while. They are small pictures. As fans, you also have a huge responsibility. You have to call good pictures good and bad pictures bad. It should be said without fear, said Kamal Haasan.
