Apple is the first music company to take action against Kanye West

by time news

After being fired from Adidas and Balenciaga, rapper Kanye West saw his playlists being removed on the streaming music service Apple Music, the only song-publishing company to take a stand against West. The artist tweeted anti-Semitic and racist statements last week, arousing the outrage of many and paying for the way he expressed his uncomfortable opinions with tattered contracts. Only the line produced with Adidas, Yeezy, was making $ 2 billion a year. West’s songs are still all on Apple Music, but the company will stop promoting the artist with dedicated playlists like “Kanye West Essentials”. In recent statements, Spotify has made it known that it does not intend to take action of any kind against Kanye West, acknowledging the seriousness of the comments but leaving it to his record label to decide what to do with his music. Def Jam, which owns the rights to West’s ten studio albums, has no plans to withdraw them from the online streaming services catalog.
