The tone rises between the government and the opponents of a water reserve intended for agricultural irrigation in Sainte-Soline, in Deux-Sèvres. The day after a demonstration marked by violent clashes with the police, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, banged his fist on the table this Sunday, October 30. Stressing that “61 gendarmes were injured, including twenty very seriously, some still being hospitalized”, he denounced the methods of some of the opponents equipped in particular with “mortars, pétanque balls or molotov cocktails”. According to the minister, among these “activists”, there were “forty people on file S of the ultra-left”. “With operating methods, I’m not afraid to say, falling within the ecoterrorism that we must absolutely fight,” he hammered.
