With 100 horns and a length of 1.9 km: meet the longest train in the world

About 3,000 people watched it live on a huge screen that was placed near the village of Burgan, at the midpoint of the historic journey. Many others stood along the way, cheering and taking pictures. The whole journey was completed in just over an hour.

Rhaetian Railway director Renato Fasciatti said the record was designed to highlight some of Switzerland’s engineering achievements and mark 175 years of railways in the country. “For me, it’s just Swiss perfection,” Fasciatti told the local press. After the journey, the company announced that it had broken the Guinness record for the longest passenger train. However, there are much longer trains in the world, but do not include passengers.
