Panchkula: Indo-Tibetan border troops guarding the border with China are being given new unarmed combat training. The 98,000-strong Indo-Tibetan Border Force (ITBP) guards the 3,488-km border with China from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh. In June 2020, 20 soldiers of this army lost their lives in a clash with the Chinese army in the Kalwan Valley area of ​​Ladakh. 45 soldiers were killed on the Chinese side. During this encounter, the Chinese soldiers attacked the Indian soldiers using stones, nailed poles and iron rods.

In this case, the Indo-Tibetan border guards are being taught the martial arts of unarmed fighting to counter such an attack by China. New, modern, unarmed combat training is provided with 20 martial arts including Judo, Karate, and Krav Maga used by the Israeli military. New recruits of the Indo-Tibetan Army are trained for 3 months in unarmed combat training in all martial arts including punching, kicking, throwing, immobilizing, grappling and knockdown.
