New Delhi: The Supreme Court directed to take strict action against the two-finger test conducted in rape cases. Prosecution action has been taken against those conducting the inspection. The court observed that the two-finger test is a re-tort to the victim in the rape case. The Supreme Court has directed to remove the two-finger test section from the curriculum of medical colleges.

A bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and Hima Kohli observed that it is unfortunate that this unscientific test is still going on. The bench pointed out that the court had earlier ruled that this test was unscientific. The Supreme Court also stated that the sexual background of Atijeetha is not relevant in the rape case.

The Supreme Court directed the central and state governments to ensure that two-finger verification is not carried out. It is suggested that the instructions regarding this be forwarded to everyone.
