Directed by Nirmal Sahadev, Kumari released on October 28. Aishwarya Lakshmi and Shine Tom Chacko played the lead roles in the film, which goes through spells and supernatural powers.
Shine is a star who has become a show stealer with his performance in recent movies. But many doubt that he was a miscast in Kumari. In the film, Shine portrayed Dhruvan, the youngest scion of the Kanjirangate family beyond Illimalak. Aishwarya Lakshmi’s Kumari arrives in Kanjirangat as Dhruv’s wife.
Dhruvan in Kumari should have been the type character of Digambara in Anantabhadra. But Shine’s performance could not bring that much impact to this character. Dhruvan is the character who gets a big character transformation in the film.
Shine’s behavior and comments in recent interviews have been the subject of much discussion. A similar shine was seen in the film. Some dialogues were not clear at all. Much of Shine Tom’s dialogue delivery was incomprehensible to the audience in the theatre.
If we look at the other actors in the film, Surabhi Lakshmi and Aishwarya Lakshmi were leading in their performances. Swasika has also done her role well. The movie, which is riddled with flaws in the script, has not been very successful in engaging.
