Asian tiger mosquito in Katwijk: ‘Try to catch them or beat them to death’

THE HAGUE – An Asian tiger mosquito has been found in the municipality of Katwijk. An observant resident from that municipality has sent the mosquito to the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), who have confirmed that it is the Asian tiger mosquito. ‘These animals do not occur naturally in the Netherlands’, says a spokesperson for GGD Hollands Midden.
