After Elon Musk caused a shock around the world when he decided to make the “Blue V” service available for a fee, he decides to lower the price.
It was originally reported that Musk, who took control of the site’s purchase on Monday, plans to raise the subscription fee for the premium “Twitter Blue” service from $5 to $20 a month, making it mandatory for verified users. According to the plan, those who do not agree to pay for the service will lose the Blue Hoi in their account after 90 days. It is now being reported that Musk has decided to drop the price to $8 “only”, apparently because of the public outrage over the issue.
It was also reported yesterday that Musk made it clear to the Twitter employees responsible for the premium subscribers that if they do not initiate the move within a week, they will be fired on November 7. Musk himself did not respond to the reports, but did write last night on Twitter that “the entire verification process is undergoing a significant update now.”
Today, Twitter Blue allows users to pay to remove ads and promoted tweets, and subscribers can edit tweets after they’ve been posted. It should be noted that at this stage the service is only available in the US and several other countries in the world, and is not available in Israel.
