The IDF spokesman today (Wednesday) allowed publication that a civilian plane belonging to a foreign airline made an unplanned landing in Iran last Thursday, due to a medical incident of one of the pilots, which resulted in a change in the planned flight path.
One of the passengers on the flight was a lone soldier in the IDF. According to the army, the soldier was returning on an intermediate flight from a family visit.
The plane and the passengers stayed on the ground at the airport for several hours. After several hours, the plane took off and continued to its destination without exception.
It should be emphasized that the soldier serves in one of the regional commands in a non-sensitive position.
During the entire time of the soldier’s stay on Iranian soil, about ten hours, the Iranians did not realize that the IDF soldier was present on Iranian soil.
