Parasailing is one of the fastest growing adventure sports in the world. The incident, which shocked the tourism sector, took place in Diu yesterday. While parasailing, the rope of the parachute broke and the couple fell into the sea. The incident took place on Sunday at Narova Beach in Diu. The rope connecting the parachute to the power boat broke. Ajith’s brother Rakesh who was in the boat filmed the scenes. Rakesh said that Ajith and his wife went up to the sky after the rope was broken and he did not know what to do. Rakesh alleged that the boat’s occupants had been informed of the boat’s condition before the accident but the authorities said there was nothing to fear.
The two were rescued by lifeguards on the beach when the parachute rope broke and they fell into the sea. The couple escaped because they were wearing life jackets. Ajith and his family were in Diu for a holiday.
Ajith and his family blamed the accident on the negligence of parasailing service providers. The owner of Palms Adventure and Motor Sport, which runs parasailing, said the accident was the first of its kind and was caused by strong winds.
