Synagogues in New Jersey were put on alert Thursday afternoon after the American intelligence organization the FBI announced that it had “received credible information about a widespread threat to Jewish houses of worship.”
The message states that they call for security precautions to be taken to protect the community buildings and synagogues and ask in emergency cases to call the police, as well as increased police forces around Crown Heights to create security.
In a message published on the organization’s social media pages, it is stated that: “At this time, we ask all the rabbis and rabbis of the synagogues to use all security measures to protect the community and the community buildings. The FBI will share more information as soon as possible. Stay alert and in case of emergency call the police.” .
The FBI did not release further information about the nature of the threats, but said it was “taking a proactive step with this warning while investigative procedures are carried out.”
