FOOD CHECK 2022. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced the creation of a 60 million euro aid fund for sustainable food, intended to benefit low-income households from 2023.

In reality, the government always keeps a watchful eye on this device, to allow the most modest to eat more healthily in this period of galloping inflation (6.2% in October over one year). This is why the Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced, this Thursday, November 3, the creation of a fund for sustainable food aida value of 60 million euros from 2023. This great novelty could therefore replace a hypothetical food check, in the small papers since 2020, when Emmanuel Macron talked about it for the very first time. This fund of 60 million euros could allow citizens “the most fragile“to access” quality food “as the number 2 of the government pointed out, during her visit to the Marne this week.
This sum would first of all make it possible to “support our major national players so that they can buy more quality products”, and “initiatives like the one we saw this morning in the territories, for example, quality in a short circuit for our food banks and the associations that are mobilized on this food aid.” Problem, this food check is not registered in the budget 2023. The government has not given more precise information about this new device which could replace the famous food check, long awaited by the poorest households to access healthier food.
The fund for sustainable food aid of 60 million euros, desired by Elisabeth Borne should be managed by certain major national networks, and regional prefects through “local projects”. “The latter” will be able to support initiatives (…) between farmers, producers who will also be able to offer short circuits for quality food. For example, also setting up sustainable food vouchers since it is something that we want to be able to then develop on a national scale”, continued the head of government.
But originally the scholarship studentsthe beneficiaries of housing benefits (APL) even if they no longer live with their parents as well as the beneficiaries of social minima such as the RSA, the ASS, the AAH, or even the ASPA should have benefited from the food voucher. Finally, the latter received the inflation bonus, or exceptional back-to-school bonus of 100 euros on September 15th.
The idea of a new generation food voucher is therefore not yet buried, as confirmed by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne during a trip to Marne, Thursday November 3, 2022. Problem, this possible check is not not on the 2023 budget program. So, it is difficult to know the exact terms of this new food check, and a potential payment date if such a formula were chosen for 2023.
As a reminder, the implementation of the food check had proven to be more complex than expected for the executive and saw several dates being brought forward over the months. Finally, the government decided during the Council of Ministers of July 7, theexceptional back-to-school assistance replaced the food check.
