Brigitte Giraud, winner of the Goncourt prize for “Live fast”: “This book comes from afar”

She wasn’t the favourite, but she won. The Lyonnaise Brigitte Giraud won the Goncourt 2022 on Thursday with “Vivre vite” (Éd. Flammarion, 208 p., 20 euros), a strong text which returns to the drama which turned her life upside down: the death, in 1999, of her husband, in a motorcycle accident. The author lists the elements that led to this tragedy and above all, in a “what if” mode, those which, if they had turned out differently, would have prevented the death of the man in her life.
