Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked civilians to immediately evacuate the conflict-affected areas of Kherson, Ukraine. Kherson is one of four provinces Putin announced annexed to the Russian Federation in September.
During talks with pro-Russian rebels yesterday, Putin suggested that civilians in Kherson should not suffer and that they should be removed from the area. Russia is moving for a strong attack against the backdrop of Ukraine’s counterattack in Kherson.
Following Putin’s directive, the local government announced a 24-hour curfew in Kherson yesterday. At the same time, Mayor Vitaly Klitshenko said 450,000 homes in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv were without power.
