Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagai, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Theni, Dindigul, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram and Karaikal districts will experience heavy rain today and tomorrow.

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will receive moderate rain on the 7th and 8th. The sky will be cloudy in Chennai today.

Thunder and lightning will occur at some places. A maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius was recorded.

As a cyclone with a speed of 60 km per hour is expected in South West and Central West Bay of Bengal, fishermen should not go to these areas on the 8th.

As of yesterday morning, 14 cm of rain was recorded in Thandaiyarpet, Chennai, the highest in the state in 24 hours.

Mettupalayam, 12; Vedaranyam, Kayalpatnam, 10; Perambur, 9; Gayathar, Chennai Collector’s Office, Srivaikundam, 8; Chennai Nungampakkam, Thiruvallur Collector’s Office, 7 cm rain has fallen.

Other calls have been reported to the concerned department officials and action has been taken, it said.

Chennai received 41 cm of rain. This is 27 percent more than the normal 33 cm, he said.
