It’s very well paid for the Bretons, who responded to José Fonte’s opener (16th) with a penalty scored by Benjamin Bourigeaud (58th). They keep their 3rd place.
Lille, which may have regrets, remains 7th. The dominant feeling will obviously be bitterness as Paulo Fonseca’s men have dominated this meeting. In a one-sided first half, they smothered unrecognizable Rennes and logically found the opening on an error from Steve Mandanda which experienced Jose Fonte took advantage of.

Despite their clear technical, tactical and physical superiority, LOSC were unable to kill the game and therefore risked a possible awakening from Brittany. This never really came, but Bruno Genesio’s men took advantage of a silly foul by Jonathan Bamba in the box to equalize on a Benjamin Bourigeaud penalty.
LOSC then pushed but were unsuccessful, hitting the uprights three times. Recovering well from his blunder in the first act, Steve Mandanda made five decisive saves which allowed his team to leave with a miraculous point. We will have to do much better next Saturday against Toulouse (9 p.m.). Lille will host Angers on Sunday (3 p.m.).
