Sunday, November 6 sounds like the end of vacation for those who had the opportunity to take a few days. So what is the assessment of tourism in this period of inflation and after the fears due in particular to the shortage of fuel?

In Grau-du-Roi (Gard), by the sea, it floats like the air of the end of vacation. Tourists enjoy last rays of the sun on the sand. This year, the results are mixed. The seaside resort located near Montpellier (Hérault) is less popular due to a reduced budget for holidaymakers. “We’re leaving for less time already, that’s for sure because we’re careful. We’re leaving less far and we may be leaving less often”says one of them. “We can’t afford to work six or seven hours [de trajet] or change country. I really chose to stay in France and have short weekends”says a woman.

The drop in attendance is felt on the terraces, where there are almost only locals at the table. Iman Amiri opened his restaurant eight years ago and he has never seen so few people during the All Saints holidays. He made 80 covers per day against 160 last year, which forced him to close his restaurant in the evening. “We expected to be full every day, to work a lot. We even wanted to strengthen the team but unfortunately, when we saw our reservation books which were not full, we were unable to project ourselves”says the manager of Le Patio restaurant in Grau-du-Roi.
