“Les Choux de Créteil”, very urban – Liberation

by time news

Photographer Wendy Huynh and artistic director Jessica Pichet pay homage to this set of buildings, built fifty years ago, in an exciting photographic project at the International Youth Union of the 18th arrondissement of Paris.

At the antipodes of the dull and stiff architecture that characterized the suburbs of the 1960s, Les Choux de Créteil (Val-de-Marne) is a set of eleven towers designed by the utopian architect Gérard Grandval, with concrete balconies in the shape of leaves and petals. Built on former market garden land, these whimsical-looking habitats were captured by photographer Wendy Huynh and artistic director Jessica Pichet, in a rich photographic project that plunges us into the heart of the lives of neighborhood residents.
