A week since the decision on the national elections, the local political system is starting to prepare for the local elections in 2023 and veteran politicians are already warming up on the lines. “Srogi” has learned that Tzipi Livni, the former minister, has been considering running for mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo in recent months.

Sargoim learned that already several months ago, in closed conversations, Livni said that she was positively considering running for the position, if it would appear that she has a chance of winning.

In response to the knitting, Livni said: “This is an unborn egg, I have nothing to do with the rumors and publications on the subject and do not refer to them.”

Since her retirement from political life, Livni has lowered her profile and rarely speaks out on political-political issues, but recently Livni returned to appear in the media and even spoke out on some occasions on political issues.

If Livni runs for the position, she is expected to compete with veteran mayor Ron Huldai, who has already stated that he intends to run for mayor for the last time in the municipal elections to be held in 2023. If he wins, Huldai will complete a 30-year term.

The other person who has already announced her candidacy is Huldai’s deputy, Tzipi Brand. Brand, is a former journalist and filmmaker. In January 2021, Brand was fired by mayor Ron Huldai from her position as deputy mayor, but in November 2021 she returned to the position.
