US embargo on Cuba – Condemned by international nations in the UN council | US embargo on Cuba

by time news

New York,

After the Great Revolution led by Fidel Castro, assets owned by Americans and American companies in Cuba were nationalized.

Following these actions, in 1962, the United States imposed an embargo on Cuba with various economic restrictions, including an embargo on trade between the United States and Cuba.

US President Barack Obama took significant steps to ease tensions with Cuba during his tenure. But succeeding US President Donald Trump took a tougher approach, including re-intensifying economic sanctions on Cuba.

In this situation, the UN Cuba presented a draft resolution against the US sanctions in the Council. In a meeting to study this resolution, representatives of 185 countries including Singapore, Dominica, and Pakistan expressed their support for the adoption of the draft resolution submitted by Cuba.

International countries have condemned the trade and economic embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba as not only a violation of international law but also an inhumane act.
