Due to price hike, there is no sale of cow’s milk for Pongal

CHENNAI: Aavin has decided to sell the milk during the Pongal festival as the sales have decreased due to price hike.

Cow’s milk is graded based on fat content and sold in red, orange, green and blue color packets.

The price of full fat milk packed in an orange packet has been increased from Rs 24 to Rs 30 per 500 ml recently.

A packet of red milk is selling from Rs 30 to Rs 34. Currently, the price has gone up by Rs 12 per litre.

Due to this, the sale of milk has decreased significantly. The common people have started buying milk from private companies instead of the orange and red colored milk packets whose prices have been increased.

Subsequently, Aavin’s company has increased production of milk powder and butter from unsold milk.

A 100 ml bottle of ghee was included in the Pongal gift set this year in ration shops. Through this, Aavin’s company got a revenue of 120 crore rupees.

The government is planning to give the gift package for next year’s Pongal festival at the end of December.

For this, Aavin Company has started preparations for making butter from unsold milk and melting ghee. As a result of the milk remaining unsold, there is no harm to Aa’s company.

At the same time, due to the stagnancy of cow’s milk without sale, there is a loss to the agents and stallholders.
