Jean-Luc Moudenc leaves LR: the great divorce between the party and its mayors continues

At Les Républicains, for a long time, we had no results but we had local elected officials. A precious list of mayors and presidents of regions which allowed the party created by Nicolas Sarkozy to present itself proudly as that of the “territories”, while it suffered failures in the national elections. But the war chest is dangerously reduced. This Monday, it was the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, the largest municipality held by the right, since the loss of Marseille, in 2020, who announced in Le Figaro that he was leaving LR.
