Proclaimed in the premises of the regional direction of the judicial police of Paris, rue du Bastion, in Paris, the prize crowns Nobody’s son, account of an investigation after the discovery of a corpse at the Tuileries.

Police captain Jean-François Pasques won the Quai des Orfèvres prize on Tuesday for his novel Nobody’s sonannounced the prefect of police of Paris Laurent Nuñez and Fayard editions.

A chemist by training, Jean-François Pasques is currently working in public security in Nantes. He previously worked for fifteen years in Paris, notably in a criminal group of the 1st judicial police district.

“The police satisfy their appetite for human curiosity, and Nobody’s son stages these colorful characters with whom he is confronted daily in his profession»writes Fayard in a press release.

The novel tells of the investigation carried out by a commander after the discovery of the body of a man in a pond in the Tuileries garden in Paris. The prize, proclaimed in the premises of the regional direction of the judicial police of Paris, rue du Bastion, was sponsored this year by the actor Richard Anconina.

Created in 1946, the Quai des Orfèvres prize rewards a detective novel each year. It is awarded by a jury made up of 22 police officers, magistrates and journalists. It decides on a selection of anonymous manuscripts by considering only the quality of the text, in compliance with police, scientific or judicial procedures and plausibility.

Last year, the prize was awarded to Véronique de Haas, a former professor of literature, passionate about the interwar period, for The Red Muse.
