Kuwait City | A local daily newspaper reported that the radar system at the Kuwait Meteorological Center has been out of action since last May. The faulty radar system relies on monitoring cloud movements and predicting the probability and amount of rainfall in different parts of the country.
Due to this, since last May, other alternative systems are being relied upon to determine the amount of rainfall. But the information obtained from these is not as accurate as obtained from the radar system, the officials of the weather monitoring department say.
The newspaper reports that the meteorological department had already written to the concerned authority to allocate funds for its maintenance, but no action has been taken so far.
