A 19-year-old woman collapsed and died at the Wolfson Hospital in Holon after suffering from a rare side effect of Optalgin, according to a report by News 13.

The young woman who swallowed the well-known drug for reducing fever and pain relief arrived at the emergency room when she was already in critical condition, and the doctors began resuscitation operations that lasted for hours, during which she was also connected to the ECMO device, but in the end the doctors had to pronounce her dead.

In many countries in the world it is not customary to use the drug, which is sold there under the name Dipiron due to the rare side effect that is nevertheless considered to be sold. It is actually the destruction of the bone marrow, which according to estimates occurs in a ratio of one to one and a half million users of the drug.
