Cuddalore: Police have registered a case against a mother and son who assaulted a woman to demand repayment of a loan.
A police helpline number ‘Ladies First 82200 06082’ has been introduced to protect the welfare of women in Cuddalore district. Speaking on this number, Esther Rani, 36, from Maruti Nagar, Wadalur, complained that she had taken a loan of Rs.85 thousand from Velankanni, a resident of the same area, and now Velankanni and her son assaulted her for the money.
On the basis of the complaint, Vadalur police conducted an investigation and it was revealed that Esther Rani had been assaulted. Subsequently, the Vadalur police have registered a case against Velankanni and her son Vinitraj and are investigating.
