The yeshiva budget will be doubled • Managers to Goldknoff: to take care of ‘extraordinaries’ as well

by time news

One of the clauses in the coalition negotiations: According to the summaries that are being formed between the Likud and the religious Zionist factions, Shas and Torah Judaism, the next government will approve the doubling of the haberach scholarship and the yeshiva budget.

According to the summaries, a yeshiva student will be budgeted at 730 NIS per month, while Yeshiva student will receive NIS 1314.

Another change: until today the yeshiva world’s budget was limited to 1.2 billion shekels, when the natural increase and the development of the Torah world did not increase the pie, but everyone got smaller parts.

According to a report in News 12, now there will be no more limit. Estimates are that the total budget will reach NIS 2.5-3 billion.

In the meantime, Torah Judaism chairman Yitzhak Goldknopf held a meeting today (Thursday) with the heads of the Yeshiva Directors’ Union and Torah institutions, in order to hear their claims and hardships – which they seek to resolve within the framework of Torah Judaism’s requirements.

“These are basic conditions that are necessary for the world of Torah, they are not luxuries,” the administrators told the designated minister.

They pointed out that many of the foreigners who come to study in Israel and do not have Israeli citizenship, receive only partial budgeting – something that places a heavy financial burden on the shoulders of the institutions, whose situation is not improved even so.

The managers also told Goldknopf their plight in the lack of proper communication with the government ministries in the fields of health, and in bureaucratic requirements imposed on them such as firefighting permits that are necessary to obtain permission to operate an educational institution.

The administrators painfully presented the existing discrimination in the budgeting of boys who belong to special education, who receive only partial budgeting compared to their counterparts in the general education system. “They specifically hurt the weak, those who need support and assistance the most” they said.

Goldknopf listened attentively to the administrators’ requests and asked his advisor Moti Babchik to gather the requests in order to present them to the Likud’s negotiating team.

The managers also asked to examine with the Likud members the increase in the wages of the shepherds and the budgeting that goes to yeshivot according to the boy.

The chairman of Torah Judaism told them that he takes these things to heart and will serve as a pawn for them in the negotiation meeting and in the upcoming Knesset, “My door is open to you at any time, and for any purpose. The yeshiva boys and the priests are in our eyes, we go to the Knesset on their behalf.”
