Chennai: In response to the Coimbatore car cylinder blast incident, National Security Agency (NIA) officials conducted raids at 43 locations in Tamil Nadu yesterday. In this, many important documents have been confiscated.

Chemicals used to make explosives were seized during a search at the house of Jamesha Mubin, who died in a car cylinder explosion in Coimbatore. Mohammad Talha (25), Mohammad Azharuddin (23), Mohammad Riaz (27), Peroz Ismail (27), Mohammad Nawaz Ismail (26), Absar Khan (26) were arrested in this connection. The NIA officials are currently investigating in this regard. In this case, the NIA officers yesterday conducted raids at the houses of religious fundamentalists and those who support ISIS.

Coimbatore Ukkadam Al Amin Colony, G.M. Nagar, H.M.P.R. The search was conducted at 33 places namely Veedhi, Bothanoor, Rose Garden, Kuniyamuthur, Kurichi, Selvapuram and Pullukadu. The NIA officers who came to Coimbatore from Kochi and Chennai conducted the search from early morning yesterday. Cell phone, laptop, pen drive and important documents were seized during the search conducted at places including the houses of deceased Mubin’s relatives. Similarly, NIA officials raided the house of Al Basid (22) in Tirumullaivasal Chokkalingam town near Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district. Al Basid, a graduate, works as an ambulance and car driver. 2 cell phones, SIM cards, pen drive and documents were allegedly seized from his house.

Mubin’s brother-in-law Mohammad Yusuf lives in Tirupur. NIA officials also raided his house. The police then took him to Tirupur South Police Station and interrogated him and released him after 3 hours. A search was also conducted at the house of Umar Farooq (35) of Otupattarai, Coonoor district, Nilgiris district. The search was conducted at 8 places in Chennai including Puduppet, Perambur, Jamalia and Mannadi. It was reported that the car involved in the Coimbatore car cylinder explosion case was bought in Chennai. Based on that, NIA officials raided the house of Mohammad Nizamuddin of Tiruvenkadam Street, Puduppet. He runs a shop selling used cars and motorcycles in Puduppet. The authorities confiscated his cell phone and SIM card.

Similarly, the houses of Raja Mohammad, Otteri Jalauddin and Vyasarpadi Zafar Ali of Manadi Ibrahim Street were also searched. Also, based on the list given by the NIA officials, the Chennai police also conducted separate raids at some places.
