As for this new firmware version, Apple hasn’t specified what new updates it will bring. But it is considered a cross-version update from 1.x to 2.x, which the previous firmware version is 1.0.301 / Build Number 1A301.
For that update will happen automatically. You can check the firmware version number at Find My app > stuff > tap AirTag item > tap the word “now”, the firmware version number will be displayed.
As of now, only a handful of users have received the update. The report states that Apple will gradually release updates until December 1, 2022.
