Six people who were acquitted by the Supreme Court in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case have been released from jail. Nalini Murugan, her husband Murugan, Shanthan, Robert Pius, Jayakumar and Ravichandran were released from jail. Sri Lankan nationals Murugan, Shanthan, Robert Pius and Jayakumar were transferred to a special center in Tiruchirappalli where foreigners arriving without documents are housed. Nalini returned home in Vellore. Ravichandran was received by his relatives in Tuticorin.
