Kochi: Former Kerala Blasters player Ian Hume has officially announced his retirement. The 39-year-old Hume, who has not appeared as a player in the last two and a half centuries, was coaching English club Woodstock City. Ian Hume, known as Humeton among Kerala Blasters fans, has played 29 matches for the Yellow Army over two terms. Scored 10 goals in Keralakara’s yellow shirt. Hume scored the first goal for Kerala Blasters.

Ian Hume has also played for Kolkata and Pune in the ISL. He was one of the main players who took Blasters to the finals in the first season of 2014. Apart from the ISL in India, Ian Hugh has also played club football in England and Spain. Scored more than 140 goals in more than 600 matches. He has scored 25 goals in 62 games in the ISL. He won the best actor award in 2014.

In his international career, Ian Hume has played 43 games for the Canadian national team and scored 6 goals. He played for Canada from 2003 to 2016. He made his international debut in 2003 at the age of 19. Noted for three appearances at the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup where Canada made a breakthrough. Canada reached the semi-finals of the tournament. He played for Canada in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in three seasons. Canadian football team officials thanked Hume. He holds the UEFA B Diploma for Coaches.
