CHENNAI: Contractors have been advised that ‘Employees should not be allowed to stay in Housing Board construction project areas’.
In Tamil Nadu, under the Housing Board, flats are being constructed at various places. Commercial and office complex construction is also underway.
Generally, contracting companies that undertake such large-scale construction work bring in and use foreign workers. The workers who are brought in are accommodated in temporary huts in the construction project area.
However, when accidents occur during construction work, natural disasters etc., workers are affected. Currently, the housing board has advised the contractors not to accommodate the employees in the construction project areas as the northeast monsoon rains.
