We all know that there have been many films about a child separated from its birth mother rejoining its parents years later. We have come across news of some finding their children and parents through social media.
But an interesting and shocking incident happened recently in a Chinese province where a son who was said to be dead was found alive after 17 years. It is an additional information that the background of this incident has gone beyond the movies.
A woman named Zhang Kaihong from Jiangsu Province, China, had thought her baby boy was dead for several days when she only recently learned that his son was not dead and that he was stolen by her cousin’s sister-in-law in 2005.
Accordingly, Zhang stayed at a relative’s house while she was pregnant, fearing that her ex-husband would abuse her. While living there, Zhang Kaihong gave birth to a child. But the relative’s sister-in-law told Zhang that both legs of the newborn child were paralyzed. Meanwhile, the sister-in-law has forced Zhang to leave because she needs to treat the baby.
A few days later, Zhang’s baby died without treatment, the sister-in-law said. Because of this, Zhang Kaihong has been living under the assumption that his baby boy is dead for all these years. It is at this stage that he realizes that everything his relative’s sister-in-law has said is a lie and learns that his son is not dead and that he is now studying in school.
After this, when Zhang was actively involved in the process of finding her son, she realized the similarities between herself and her son and told her ex-husband about it. Later, after DNA testing confirmed that the relative’s sister-in-law had his son, Zhang asked him to hand over his son.
But the woman, because she had raised Zhang’s son for all these years, refused to take him away after giving him the compensation, and kept Zhang’s son under her protection. But Zhang refused, saying he could not pay as there was no proof of legal adoption. Zhang Kaihong’s struggle to rescue his son is currently being broadcast in Chinese media.
