The National Security Headquarters published earlier today (Monday) a reference to and update of the travel warning for Turkey, following the terrorist attack near Taksim Square in Istanbul, in which 6 people were killed and dozens injured.
The headquarters stated that this incident illustrates the risk that exists for Israelis visiting or staying in the country, and would like to remind the precautionary rules that apply to every Israeli citizen who leaves the country’s borders and to those who encounter a tense and security-sensitive situation in any country.
1. The recommendations for normal precautions when staying abroad:
A. When planning the trip abroad, it is recommended to make sure that the chosen flight route does not pass over enemy countries (including Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Yemen and Iraq) and countries with a high threat level and which do not maintain relations with Israel, below: Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia and Pakistan.
B. Give the details of the trip/visit (route, places to stay, flights) and ways to contact a relative in Israel (preferably a close relative).
third. Obey the instructions and directives of the security forces in the country where you are staying
d. Find out the phone numbers of the emergency services at the destination you are visiting (security forces/medical) and the Israeli embassy if there is one.
God. Stay away from demonstrations and protests.
and. Staying alert while staying at the destination, paying attention to what is happening around you.
G. It is suggested not to have a conversation about service in Israel’s security systems with unknown parties.
H. Consider whether to give personal details and/or about the trip to strangers, unnecessarily.
2. Recommendations for increased precautionary measures when staying abroad (in addition to the usual precautionary measures, according to the directive of the Ministry of Health):
A. Shorten the length of stay to the minimum necessary.
B. Get to know the destination in general: population composition, security situation, regime.
third. Minimize the documentation and documents with which you travel to your destination (for example, without workplace certificates, without a driver’s license if not necessary, etc.)
d. to avoid externalizing Israeli symbols.
God. Avoid participating in events with many participants that are not secured by the locals.
and. Avoid posting trip details on social networks and posting photos and visit details in real time.
G. Avoid contact with strangers who are unknown to you (does not refer to service providers, but to factors not directly related to visiting/staying at the destination).
3. Recommendations for precautionary measures on the Internet, if you have received a request from a party you do not know or from a party known to you that is unlikely to refer you to suspicious links/websites.
A. An initial check on the person who created the connection, whether they have Facebook/Instagram/TikTok/LinkedIn/website accounts, etc. that look authentic.
B. Does the email/phone address from which the message was received match the information that appears on the Internet about the sender of the message (make sure that not even a small detail is different from the information that appears on the Internet, including an email extension or changing one of the letters)?
third. Does the phone number of the person who contacted you match the number of the country where he claims to be staying?
d. You can insist on having a video/voice call in order to verify the identity of the applicant.
God. Do not transfer personal details (passport photo/ID card, details of family members, addresses, current place of residence) or fill out forms with personal details.
and. Do not open files, including images, without verification that it is an authentic and reliable address.
G. It is recommended to consult with friends/colleagues about the reliability of the reference.
