Chennai: According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu till 19th and heavy rain in 6 districts on 20th of this month.

The information released by the Chennai Meteorological Department: Due to the upper atmospheric circulation over Kerala, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal from 16th to 19th.

On the 20th Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Karaikal at many places, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at few places in interior Tamil Nadu districts. Thiruvarur, Nagai, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu districts and Puducherry and Karaikal regions are likely to receive heavy rain at a few places.

Chennai and its suburbs will remain cloudy for the next 48 hours. In the morning and evening, there will be light fog at a few places. Also, light to moderate rain is likely at a few places. The maximum temperature will be around 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 23-24 degrees Celsius.

Warning to Fishermen: A low pressure area is likely to form over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea during the next 24 hours due to the gyre over circulation prevailing over Andaman Sea today. It will move in west-northwest direction during the next 48 hours and may strengthen as a depression over South Bay of Bengal.

Therefore, from today to the 18th, cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 55 kmph and intermittent speed of 55 kmph are likely to prevail over the Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal, Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southwest and Central West Bay.

On the 19th and 20th, cyclonic winds with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and occasional 65 kmph are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and adjacent South West Bay of Bengal, South Andhra coastal areas, South West Bay of Bengal along the Sri Lankan coast.

Fishermen are advised not to visit these areas on the above days, said the Chennai Meteorological Department.
