After the setback in the Twenty20 World Cup, there were rumors that the BCCI was preparing to disband the Indian team.

New Delhi: Coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma faced severe criticism after India were eliminated in the semi-finals of the Twenty20 World Cup. One of the main factors that led to India’s defeat was the reluctance of the leading batsmen to speed up the scoring.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has suggested that MS Dhoni should come to India’s coaching position amid criticism of the team’s performances and tactics.

“Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman are very good players. But leadership is very important because a coach should also be a mentor to the players. MS Dhoni has achieved success in these matters. So I am of the opinion that he should come as a coach,” said Salman Butt on his YouTube channel.

“You can’t achieve great things without taking risks. It’s not about risk, it’s about testing the stars. It cannot be said that everyone will succeed, but opportunities should be given to young players. “Giving them more opportunities, we can find out who can fill the gaps in the team,” Butt added.

Currently, the Indian team is on a tour of New Zealand. The series consists of three T20s and ODIs each. The head coach has also given rest to senior players like Dravid and Rohit and Virat Kohli. In their absence, VVS Laxman will play the role of coach. Hardik Pandya is leading the team.
