The Egyptian “Suez Canal Container Company”, operator of the container terminal at Port Said East port, stated on Tuesday that it signed a contract with the “Suez Canal Economic Zone” to manage further expansions and provide logistics services at a new wharf that will be 955 meters long. She added that the expansions will increase the handling capacity of the terminal from 5 million not to almost 7 million.

It was also reported that the expansions will include an additional container handling complex with an area of ​​approximately 500,000 square meters, which will increase the area of ​​the container handling complex from 1.2 million square meters to 1.7 million square meters, and this in addition to a total investment of 500 million dollars. The total investments since the establishment of the company have increased to 1.5 billion dollars, in a 30-year contract.

Stephen Youglingham, the company’s CEO, stated that the new terminal will be operated using clean and renewable energy sources, as part of its strategy to reduce 70% of carbon emissions during its container handling activities at its terminals by 2030.
