Central government-run telecom regulator TRAI will soon introduce a new feature to help mobile users avoid the problem of spam calls. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Trai is set to launch a KYC-verified mobile phone caller identity system within the next three weeks.
With this new feature launched by Trai, when you receive a call from a number not saved on your phone, the caller’s name will appear on the screen. KYC enables this feature to work. How when one buys SIM card whose name is given in the form filled or to be filled the name of the person in whose name the card is purchased appears on the mobile screen. Spam callers will be affected by this new feature. This caller ID system is going to be introduced by the government as an alternative to the popular Truecaller app.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman P.T. said that the decision to introduce this feature was taken after several consultations to eliminate the problems faced by users due to spam calls. Vakhela informed. Speaking to reporters recently, Vakhela said the regulatory and legal framework needs to keep pace with new developments to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies but also protection of state and consumer interests.
In the new technological world of convergence, we need to consider possible alignment considering the ‘multiple screens, same content’ environment. We should not have a regulatory imbalance between the conventional technologies of yesteryears and the new technologies. However, at the same time we should not stifle innovation and competition.

With this new feature that TRAI is going to introduce, fake calls can be avoided as the live name will be displayed on the mobile of the mobile users. Officials said that as per the rules of the telecom department, when the system is activated, the caller’s name will appear on the screen of the opposite end on the basis of KYC, so the callers will be caught in the clutches of the law.
Caller Name on Mobile without any app:
To save customers from the hassle of spam calls, the facility, which is offered by telecom regulator TRAI, will soon be implemented on all mobiles. Once this feature is activated the mobile users will get the facility to see the names of the callers on their mobile number without the help of any other app. That means this feature will directly reveal the name of the caller. In case of calls from a new number, the caller’s name will be displayed in response to the caller’s number through a KYC-based caller identity system.
