Last May, the Supreme Court acquitted Perariwalan of Egwar, who was serving over 30 years in prison in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Subsequently, Nalini and Ravichandran filed a petition in court citing the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to release them.

Six people were released

After many days, the Supreme Court on November 11 ruled that Nalini and the other six could be released. Later Nalini, Murugan Jayakumar, Ravichandran, Robert Byas and Chandan were released from jail as per Supreme Court order.
