The opposition Republican Party secured an absolute majority in the US House of Representatives. 218 seats were secured in the 435 member assembly. 211 seats for Democrats. The results of the counting of votes in the sixth place are yet to come out.
After securing the majority, the Republican members nominated Kevin McCarthy as the speaker candidate. President Joe Biden came to the stage to congratulate McCarthy. He also stated that he is ready to work with the Republicans. However, it will be an ordeal for Biden to pass the bills in the house of representatives.
After four years, the Republican Party won a majority in the House of Representatives. The majority won in 2010 was maintained for eight years. Democrats won the 2018 parliamentary elections.
