Painter CB Shibu’s The Tree won the Silver Prize from China. Shibu received the award at the International Cartoon and Illustration Exhibition for Humanity organized by China Daily News Paper and Wuxi Municipal People’s Government. The Tree received the Silver Prize. 20,000 Chinese Yuan (INR 2,28,000), trophy, certificate and portfolio book.

The Tree was drawn using pen and watercolor. The major awards are one Gold Prize, two Silver Prizes and three Bronze Prizes. The award ceremony will be held in Beijing soon. The competition was held with a focus on low carbon lifestyle. Shibu had submitted 15 pictures related to the survival of the earth, man and species, global warming and environmental protection.

Shibu has received national recognition from Hindustan Times twice, special prize from China and honorable mention from South Korea four times. 24th Aydin Dogon International Cartoon Competition held in Turkey in 2007 and won third place. He also won third place in Our Heritage Jerusalem International Cartoon Competition held in Turkey in 2018. Films were exhibited in countries like Turkey, Japan, China, Korea, Iran, Poland, Italy, Greece, Belgium and Mexico.
Hailing from Shibu Cherai, he holds a Fine Arts Diploma in Drawing and Painting. Cheripadat is the son of late CN Balan and Shantamani. He teaches painting, photography and drawing.
